Kushans, Huvishka, Gold Dinar, 7.74g, with Sun God Miiro, main mint in Bactria (probably Balkh), late phase, Obv: Nimbate half-length bust of Huvishka left, on mountain top, wearing triangular helmet with pointed jewelled earflap, forehead medallion, crest jewel, and circular and crescent side ornaments, two diadems with triangular ties with ladder-like ribbons over both shoulders, jewelled tunic with rolled lapels, jewel-edged armlets, club in right hand with pointed index finger, transverse filleted scepter with elliptical finial in left hand over shoulder, Bactrian legend “ShAONANO ShAO OOEShKI KOShANO” around, Rev: Female deity Ardokhsho, nimbate, standing facing, turned right, ankle-length garment clinging to breasts wrapped around waist with end folds draping to right from left arm, worn over long-sleeved under-garment that falls in folds to cover feet, cornucopia filled with coins upright in both hands, Bactrian legend “MIORO” to left and tamgha to right (Göbl# 380). Very fine+, extremely rare. This coin bears an unusual engraving mistake - the goddess is evidently Ardokhsho, however the label inscription names her as ‘Mioro’. Such mistakes are rare, although a couple of other instances are also known.
