Kadambas of Goa, Shivachitta Tribhuvanamalla, Gold Gadyana, 4.38g, “Tri-scriptural” type, cyclic year ‘Shubhakrut’' corresponding to 1182 AD, Obv: Roaring Lion facing left with sun and moon above, cyclic year in Devnagari to left, Rev: Legend in three scripts and five lines “Sivachitta” in Devnagari, “Civachitta” in Tamil, “Shri Shivachitta” in Devnagari, “Shri Shivachitta” in Hale-kannada and “Shivachitta” in Devnagari (K Ganesh ‘Karnataka’ 6.12, plate specimen). Extremely fine, extremely rare. A highly unusual and rare type, probably suggesting the influence of Kadamba power held all the way to Tamilnadu, prompted by the expeditions of the Chalukyas of Kalyani against the Cholas, in which they were aided by feudatories like the Kadambas.
